UCLA grad students and professors worked on a project which is  a University of California Los Angeles Master of Urban and Regional Planning Comprehensive Capstone research project. They have built a useful and informative website containing an massive amount of data and assessment of urban agriculture in Los Angeles ranging from backyard chicken regulations to an up to date count of school gardens. The website is called Cultivate LA. It can be found at http://cultivatelosangeles.org/ and features an interactive map, which shows all the community gardens, farms, school gardens and nurseries.
