Mary Abad, SD – Deputy Executive Director of Slow Money SoCal. Mary has almost 15 years of experience in banking and international development. She has led transactions, direct investments, and programs for global banks (Citigroup, GE Capital) and multilaterals (the Asian Development Bank) in microfinance, infrastructure, private equity and small and medium-sized enterprise finance. Now back in her native SoCal, she works for a regional community bank and uses her finance skills to catalyze funds towards commercially viable projects that also make a positive impact. She was drawn to Slow Money by a wish to invest her own savings locally and now supports other investors on that journey.
Kimberly Albright, LA – Kimberly Albright has been involved with the culinary world and eating seasonally from an early age as child growing up in update New York. After college she worked at an organic lettuce farm on Martha’s Vineyard. She began her career with Whole Foods Market in 1991 and in 2010 became the local urban forager for the Los Angeles metro area. Her love of discovering new local artisan producers and working with local farmers continues to expand her determination to bring the highest quality products to our local communities
Alison Caldwell, SD – Alison Caldwell holds a masters degree in food systems & culture from New York University. A former television producer, Alison’s care for a fair food system inspired her to pursue a path where sustainable agriculture and social responsibility intersect by acquiring a comprehensive understanding of the origins, patterns, and future of food on a global scale. Alison has traveled the world researching, writing, lecturing, and advocating at the intersection of food, culture, politics, and sustainability. Alison served as Outreach Director for Slow Money SoCal from 2014-2015. Dwight Detter, SD- Slow Money SoCal Executive Director – Dwight brings forty years of experience in the food industry; restaurants, food service and the retail marketplace. Areas of expertise include product and menu development, purchasing/procurement, operations, and training. Detter has opened restaurants and grocery stores in the Mid-West, West Coast and Australia. He worked with operations such as The Olive Garden, Sizzler and Fatburger and the previous 16 years with Whole Foods Market. Dwight volunteers his time for the following organizations dedicated to local food systems. Michelle Greenwood, OC – Michelle read Tasch’s “Inquiries into the Nature of Slow Money” in 2010. A financial services professional for more than a decade, she has always been open to finding new insights that will help her reach her clients and build her community. Recognizing a pervasive amount of dysfunction around personal investing, Michelle immediately understood the book’s implications finding it both eloquent and inspiring. But it wasn’t until 2013, where, perhaps appropriately, through a conversation at a Slow Food event in Orange County, that she was led to the still burgeoning chapter of Slow Money Southern California. Michelle is thrilled, today, to find herself as part of the leadership team for Slow Money So Cal. As a volunteer and Community Collaboration Director, she welcomes the opportunity to support the concepts and community growing around local investing, to catalyze local investments and to find collaborative ways to work with others in our regional foodshed.
Angela Janus, IE- Passionate about local sustainable food, Angela Janus founded ShareKitchen as a nonprofit culinary business incubator in 2011 to help culinary entrepreneurs launch and grow their small businesses and bring their culinary products to market in the Coachella Valley. In support of the Coachella Valley’s growing local food movement, ShareKitchen developed the CV FRESH program – an EAT LOCAL initiative aligning the area’s local food system and promoting locally produced food to the region’s retailers, restaurants and consumers. Angela was named the 2014 Social Entrepreneur of the Year by the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship and the 2015 Business Woman of the Year by the Coachella Chamber of Commerce. Committed to community service, Angela serves as the Scholarship Chair for the Palm Springs Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier International and is active in the organization’s Green Tables Initiative program promoting local food access and education. An avid lover of the outdoors, she enjoys hiking, biking, camping and cooking under the stars.

Bridget Reilley, OC – After hosting a Sustainable Business Leadership Council meeting at her gluten free and dairy free store, The Bite Market, owner Bridget Reilly learned about a new chapter of Slow Money that was beginning to form in Southern California. Bridget wanted to be part of the new group in anyway that would be helpful and found that through her contacts with the local university, farmers markets and unique food vendors, she would be able to assist with the special events that bring local vendors and investors together to educate and enrich the community. Since moving her market to Costa Mesa and adding a bakery and cafe to her business, Bridget has also become involved with the LINC OC program and has become one of their first businesses to be endorsed through KivaZip, a crowd funding loan program introduced to her at one of the Slow Money OC events. She has since received the funding through the program and now assists others with information about the program and the process of becoming a KivaZip recipient.

Robin Shank, LA – Slow Money SoCal Secretary Robin Shank is west coast operations manager for StakeHolders Capital, based in the Santa Monica, CA, office. She is an experienced operations manager with a passion for getting work done by being mindful of people and planet. Robin is also a Sustainability Circle Coach and works with client companies to create and implement 5-year sustainability action plans. After receiving her MBA in Sustainable Management from Presidio Graduate School in 2011, and before joining StakeHolders Capital, Robin worked in business management consulting, operations and project management, marketing and event management. Client companies and non-profits include Green Economy Think Tank, Green Business Networking, Green Festival LA, Good Food Festival, Living Economy Salon, VerdeXchange. This augments a substantial early resume of positions with increasing responsibility in operations management, quality and distribution for the nation’s leading newspapers, including The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, The Miami Herald and LAWeekly.
Sue Struthers, IE-Sue embarked on trying to improve the local economy and food system in Riverside in 2012, after years as an avid foodie, gardener, farmer’s market shopper and home cook. A few years in Sonoma County deepened her ties to local agriculture. Service on the Board of the start-up Riverside Food Co-op lead to working on the Grow Riverside conference to promote local agriculture, then serving on the committee formulating the document that evolved into the Riverside Food Systems Alliance. Sue is on the Executive Board of RFSA, continues to work on Grow Riverside, including planning year-round Community Gatherings that highlight local cottage food vendors and restaurants and the funding possibilities through Slow Money venues. Riverside Food Co-op has an active Kiva lending group, and Sue is interested in starting a Local Investors Club. Sue is a retired youth services public librarian, working most of her career serving the children and teens of many cultures and economic situations.
